#4787 : Thief, devil, and hermit. The devil tells a thief that he is planning to strangle a hermit who has fallen asleep after committing a sin and has not yet confessed. The thief is on his way to steal the hermit’s cow. Both quarrel as to who will act first. Crying out in order to warn the hermit, the devil claims to be his guardian.
