(En.) A knight fighting against the Saracens in Spain with the Emperor Charles, left at his death his horse to the poor, and appointed someone (the nephew, in our version) as his executor. He, however, kept the horse. The dead knight appeared to the executor telling him that his action had delayed his ascent to heaven. The next day a flock of black crows seize the executor, raise him in the air and let him fall on a stone, breaking his neck. (Tubach, 1931)

(Fr.) Un chevalier lègue son cheval aux pauvres avant de mourir pour le salut de son âme, mais son neveu, mû par la cupidité, ne respecte pas son ordre et garde le cheval pour son usage personnel. Le chevalier défunt apparaît au neveu et provoque sa mort par l’entremise de corneilles noires.
