(En.) In the time of Alexander, the Ismaelites claimed Palestine from the Israelites. Gaboha son of Pesisa asked permission from the Elders to plead the cause of the Jews. " If defeated you can say that they have defeated the least among us, and if I win you say it is our Law that has won." He proved to them from the Law that Abraham had given gifts to the concubines and sent them away, thus the Ismaelites had no claim. (Gaster, p.53)

(Fr.) Au temps d’Alexandre, les Ismaëlites réclamèrent la terre de Canaan aux Israëlites en soutenant qu’ils étaient les descendants d’Abraham. Gaboha, fils de Pesisa demanda aux Sages la permission de plaider la cause d’Israël en leur disant :" si je perds,vous pourrez dire qu’ils ont vaincu le plus humble des fils d’Israël, et si je gagne, c'est à la loi de Moïse que reviendra la victoire." Gaboha réussit à prouver qu’ Abraham a renvoyé ses concubines avec des cadeaux et donc que les Ismaëlites n'ont aucun droit sur la terre.
