(En.) Shimon ben Rabbi forgot to invite Bar Kappara to dinner. The latter wrote on the door: " After joy, death." Invited afterward to another dinner, he kept the guests so amused by his jokes and saillies, telling 300 fox-fables at every dish, that the dinner was spoiled. In this way he was revenged on his host. He afterwards became reconciled to Rabbi Shimon. (Gaster, p.100)

(Fr.) Rabbi Shimon ben Rabbi oublia d’inviter Bar Kappara à un grand dîner. Ce dernier inscrivit sur sa porte ces mots:" Après la joie vient la mort." Rabbi Shimon l’invita à un autre dîner pour s’excuser, mais Bar Kappara retint l’attention des convives en ne cessant de raconter des fables, et ainsi tous les plats se refroidissaient et se gâtèrent Ce fut sa vengeance sur son hôte. Plus tard, les deux se réconcilièrent.
