(Fr.) Un autre miracle, datant d'une vingtaine d'années plus tôt, et dont Herbert sait qu'il s'est produit dans le diocèse de Chartres. Un paysan pauvre, entend de la part d'un imposteur que s'il garde le corps du Christ près de lui, il deviendra riche. Un jour de Pâques au cours de la messe, il tient l'hostie dans sa bouche sans l'avaler et la coud ensuite dans son habit. Au moment de sa mort, toujours pauvre, il reconnaît son péché, se repent et se confesse. Le prêtre enlève l'habit et y trouve l'hostie, intacte et complètement transformée en chair. L'évêque de Chartres, informé du miracle, arrive avec une nombreuse suite et emmène l'hostie à la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres.

(It.) Un altro miracolo di una ventina d’anni prima, che Herbertus sa essere avvenuto nella diocesi di Chartres. Un contadino povero, avendo sentito da un qualche impostore che se avesse tenuto vicino a sé il corpo di Cristo sarebbe diventato ricco, dopo aver ricevuto l’eucarestia, un giorno di Pasqua, la tiene in bocca senza inghiottirla e poi la cuce nella sua cappa. In punto di morte, rimasto sempre povero, riconosce il suo peccato, si pente e si confessa. Il prete scuce la veste e trova l’ostia integra e completamente trasformata in carne. Il vescovo di Chartres informato del miracolo arriva con un grande seguito e porta l’ostia in processione alla cattedrale di Notre Dame di Chartres.
