DISTINCTIO QUARTA. DE TENTATIONE

CAPITULUM XVI De ira.

Ira est irrationabilis perturbatio mentis; vel, ira est, secundum aliam descriptionem, strictus concitati furor animi, ulciscendi libidine fervens. De ira nascuntur rixae, tumor mentis, contumeliae, clamor, indignatio, blasphemiae. Ira in corde latet, in verba prorumpit, iniurias exercet. Unde Salomon in Proverbiis: Vir iracundus provocat rixas; et qui ad indignandum facilis est, erit ad peccandum proclivior1438 . Item Ecclesiasticus: Ira et furor, utrumque exsecrabile est1439 . Et in Epistola sua Jacobus Apostolus: Mi zelus et contentio, ibi inconstantia, et omne opus pravum1440.
