CAPITULUM XXXIV De Frederico monacho, ad in choro dormitanti diabolus nodum stramineum in oculos iecit.

Quidam ex senioribus nostris, Fredericus nomine, licet alias fuerit vir bonus, de vitio tamen somnolentiae satis fuerat notatus. Hie nocte quadam, antequam emissus esset conventus noster, cum staret ad psalmodiam matutinarum in Hemmenrode, et dormitaret, vidit ante se, in somnis tamen, virum longum et deformem stantem, qui in manu nodum stramineum1531 et lutosum, unde equi terguntur, tenebat. Qui cum monachum proterve intuitus fuisset, et dixisset, quid hic tota nocte stas1532 et dormitas, magnae fili mulieris? ipso fimoso stramine in faciem1533 eum cecidit.
