CAPITULUM VIII De Abbate qui in caritate a monacho suo admonitus carnes comedit.

Abbas quidam ordinis nostri monacho suo infirmo4104 praecepit4105 carnes mandueare. Ille mox obediens licet invitus, Abbati respondit dicens: Et ego vos rogo in caritate eadem, ut mecum illas comedatis. Qui statim deprecanti consentiens resedit; morsellum de scutella monachi4106 tulit et comedit. Sequenti die si bene memini in ecclesiam ubi homo quidam a daemonio vexabatur devenit. Rogatus a circumstantibus ut daemonem adiuraret, in4107 haec verba prorupit: Adiuro te immunde spiritus in ea4108 caritate qua pridie propter monachum meum carnes comedi, ut exeas ab hoc homine. Qui mox ad idem verbum exiit4109 et fugit, ac si caritatis incendium sufferre non posset. Quantum Deo caritas placeat, ex vitio inobedientiae plenius ostenditur.
