Ebrietas multa mala inducit in nobis. Primo inducit Dei indignationem.

Refert Cesarius quod peregrinus quidam sclavinam suam pro vino sorti exponens, tantum bibit quod inebriatus est. Unde in spiritu ductus est ad locum penarum in quo conspexit vas cum coperticulo stare, in quo residebat tenebrarum Princeps, in cujus dextera stabat calix plenus igne sulphureo. Et tunc adductus quidam abbas qui coactus est bibere plenum calicem, et postea missus est in puteum ardentem. Tandem Princeps tenebrarum clamavit: "Adducite illum peregrinum qui vestem sue peregrinationis pro vino exponendo inebriatus est. ” Qui supplicans angelo bono emendam promisit, et notato die et hora reperit quod ille abbas mortuus fuerat illa hora.
