#1297 : Cow and calf promised to St. Michael. A peasant leading a cow and a calf to St. Michael fears the sea and calls on the saint for help. When free from danger, he says that St. Michael was foolish to expect him to give the cow and the calf in gratitude. Again the sea rises, and again the peasant calls for help, and St. Michael appears. The third time the sea swallows him up.
