(En.) Woman cannot keep a secret. A hegemon twits a Jew with that saying, and is convinced of the truth by feigning illness and telling his wife under a oath, that he had become pregnant with child through the king. She divulges it nevertheless though he said he might loose his life through it.(Gaster,p.65)

(Fr.) Les femmes ne peuvent garder un secret. Un gouverneur se moque d’un Juif qui le prétend,et qui se réfère à des citations bibliques sur ce point, mais est convaincu de la véracité de ses dires en mettant sa femme à l’épreuve. Il lui révèle qu" il souffre d’une grossesse des oeuvres du roi, et lui fait jurer de ne le révéler à personne, car cela peut lui couter la vie, mais la femme ne peut s’empêcher de divulguer ce secret.
