Item ad idem. Legitur in Vitas Patrum quod quidam senex interrogavit quendam peritum quomodo intelligebat illud : "Arta est via que ducit ad vitam.” respondit ille : "Strictum est illud quod repellit aliud a transitu. Et ideo quia cogitatio debet repelli, mens vel cor repellens vel ejiciens perversas cogitationes dicitur arta via et stricta. Vel aliter , quanto homo magis ambulat prope terram et in infimis tanto minus timet ambulare per strictam viam. Sed quando ambulat in altis sicut in ponte altissimo tunc requirit majorem latitudinem. Altus locus est superbia, infimus locus est humilitas. Ideo arta est via humilitatis que ducit ad vitam, sed lata est via superbie que ducit ad mortem. ”
