Legitur in Tripartita Hystoria quod dum quidam imperator hostes suos cepisset et multi instarent pro morte eorum, respondit: "Utinam possemus mortuos ad vitam vocare, ut ex sterilitate ubertatem, ex verberibus sanitatem, ex fame sacietatem, ex lapidibus panes habere possemus. Non enim magnum est occidere viventes, quia hoc possunt facere animalia et serpentes; sed magnum est et soli Deo possibile mortuos per penitentiam resuscitare. ”
