Legitur in Vitas Patrum quod dum quidam senex iret per heremum et duo comitarentur -[f° v°]- cum eo, cum venisset ad cadaver hominis fetidum et senex obturasset nares suas, illi duo non curaverunt. Dum autem occurrissent juveni prepulcerrimo, statim eum videntes diverterunt a via et obturaverunt nares. Cumque senex stupefactus requisivisset causam, dixerunt: "Nos Dei ministri sumus qui fetorem spiritualem sentimus et non corpoream. Quia corpus primi hominis erat amici Dei et in anima istius est peccatum, per quod omnis adversitas in homine causatur. Omnis timor venit per eum; et quicquid homo operatur convertit in malum. Quia summe fetidum est, hunc abhorrimus et alium non. "
