(En.) Alexander goes to the kingdom of Kasia, then to Karthagena ruled by women. He is told that if he conquers it will be a shame to him and that if he is conquered the greater shame to him. He then goes to Afriki, is presented with food made of gold as he had only come for gold. . He is present at a trial. A man finds a treasure in a field bought from another man, he wishes to return it to the former owner of the land, who refuses to accept it as he says that he sold the field with everything in it. The local king decides that the treasure shall be given as a dowry to the daughter of the one who is to marry the son of the other. Alexandre is surprised for in his country the king would have confiscated the treasure and killed the owners. The local king then tells him that the sun shining and the rain falling over the country of Alexander is for the sake of the animals and not for that of the human beings. ( Gaster, pp. 52-3 )

(Fr.) Alexandre le Grand arrive au royaume de Katsia, puis à Carthagène gouvernée par des femmes. Elles lui démontrent que vainqueur ou vaincu, la honte le couvrira de toute fa?on ; Admirant cette leçon de sagesse, il continue donc son chemin vers l’Afrique où on lui présente de la nourriture faite d’or, puisque c'est pour l’or qu’il est venu. Il assiste à un litige entre un homme qui a vendu son champ sans y soupçonner la présence d’un trésor et son acquéreur qui veut le lui rendre, le vendeur refusant de le reprendre, puisqu’il a vendu le champ avec tout ce qu’il contenait. Le roi ordonne de marier entre eux les enfants des plaignants et de donner le trésor en dot à l’épousée. Alexandre admire ce jugement: chez lui, le roi aurait fait exécuter les deux plaignants et confisquer le trésor. Le roi local explique alors à Alexandre que la lumière du soleil et la pluie de son pays natal n'existent que pour les animaux et non pour les hommes qui ne le méritent pas.
