(En.) The story of Mesha of Moab who, drawing a wrong conclusion from the story of Abraham and Isaac, sacrifices his son; thus showing that the good intentions of the heathen who is badly guided, lead to sin and not to merit. (Gaster, p.71)

(Fr.) Le roi de Moab Mesha était en train de perdre la guerre contre Israël. Pour essayer d’amadouer le Dieu d’Israël, il sacrifia son fils comme Abraham avait sacrifié Isaac , croyant en idolâtre qu’il pourrait ainsi apaiser son courroux. Ainsi son ignorance et son incompréhension l’amenèrent à commettre ce crime.
