SAINT JEAN, SA PERDRIX ET LE CHASSEUR. 1/ Un jeune homme était scandalisé de voir saint Jean jouer avec une perdrix. 2/ Saint Jean lui demanda à quoi servait la corde de son arc. 3/ "On la tend, dit-il, quand on veut tirer; et ensuite on la détend." 4/ Saint Jean lui demanda pourquoi son arc ne restait pas toujours tendu. 5/ "Parce que, dit-il, il en deviendrait plus faible. 6/ - Eh bien, je vais te dire que de la même façon, si je restais toujours en prière, je ne pourrais continuer longtemps, parce que mon arc serait toujours tendu. 7/ C'est pour cela que je me repose un peu avec cet oiseau." 8/ Le garçon approuva et reconnut que c'était un saint homme.
